1. Use your past to build your future
Refer to precedents! Use information from past experiences to help you plan out your schedule. Think about what you had to do, the steps that you took to complete it, and if anything disrupted you. Refer to your mistakes, correct them, and use them as the stepping stones to your success.
2. Do not procrastinate
Think about the things that you are putting off today – will they really get done tomorrow? Prioritize your tasks and focus on what is important. Remember to work smarter!
3. Buffer or Suffer
Set realistic deadlines and make sure to add some extra time as a buffer. There is no guarantee that there won’t be any internal or external obstructions that can affect your schedule. It’s better to schedule buffer time beforehand than deal with a schedule that has gone haywire.
4. Make a Plan
Having a rough timeline and plan to follow can help keep you on track. Things will not always go according to your plan, but having a flexible plan in mind can help to keep you motivated and headed in the right direction.
5. Stay organized and avoid delays
Staying on track is easier said than done. Changes are inevitable, you will have to make some adjustments to adapt to different situations, but keep working towards achieving your goal. Remember to stay focused on your goal, but be flexible with the details.
6. Tempt Yourself
Do you find it difficult to continuously work on the same task? Try giving yourself small rewards as you achieve each step of your plan and get close to completing your task. Tempt yourself to complete your task on time! This will not only make you actively pursue the deadline of your task but will also give you breaks within your busy schedule.
