We've all been there before - you're all set with your schedule and have your work & study sessions planned out, but then something happens and you're behind on your readings 😅 Don't worry, you can get back on track. Just strategize, pace yourself, and avoid setting yourself even further back!
Here are some of our team's tips to help get you back on track:
Don't cram to catch up - your first thought might be to just do all of the readings you've missed, which might be doable if you aren't too far behind. But be honest with yourself, if cramming all of those readings in at once before your next lecture doesn't seem feasible - don't do it! You'll just end up overworked and overwhelmed, and you'll set yourself even further back off track
Build your master study plan & stick to it - avoid the cookie-cutter study plans, and build one filled with learning strategies and techniques that work for you
Retain info, don't regurgitate it - make sure you're actually understanding what you're learning and not just blindly memorizing info...that will just cause problems for you when exams hit. Track your progress by doing assigned questions, model tests, or even previous tests from your course's prof.
Go to class and follow the discussions - don't just zone out in the back of the class, follow along and join in on the discussions to really get engaged with the course work. Even if you're behind, you can try to make sense of the info taught in class that day.
Ask questions - don't be afraid to approach your TAs or make an appointment during your prof's office hours
